CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Mega Millions jackpot didn’t break the $1 billion mark, but someone in Texas should be quite happy with an $800 million payday.
A ticket sold in Texas matched the Mega Millions numbers from Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, beating the odds of 1 in 302,575,350 to win the jackpot. It was the seventh-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
According to the Texas Lottery, the winning ticket was sold at a Murphy gas station in Sugar Land, which is a suburb of Houston. The winner chose to take the cash option of $404.2 million before taxes.
The numbers are 1-2-16-24-66 Mega Ball 6 Megaplier 4x.
Four tickets, sold in California, Florida, New York and Washington state, matched the five white balls to win $1 million.
The jackpot now reverts to $20 million for the drawing on Friday, Sept. 13.
