Michael Jackson’s brothers admired the memorial for the King of Pop, who died in 2009, for the first time in Munich – and were thrilled. “Seeing this memorial means a lot to us, it’s wonderful that you’re doing something like this for our brother,” enthused Jacky Jackson in front of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, and he probably also spoke from the heart to his brothers Tito and Marlon.
Together with Tito’s son Taryll, the three musicians, all around 70 years old, will give their only concert in Germany on Tuesday evening in Munich.
The Jacksons promise their fans numerous hits from the famous family band Jackson Five, with whom brother Michael also started his career. The brothers’ successes include songs such as “I Want You Back”, “ABC” and “I’ll Be There”. There will also be songs by Michael. “We’ll have a party on stage,” says Marlon.
Singing for peace and unity
At the same time, The Jacksons also have a message that they want to make clear with Tito’s song “Love One Another”. “We want to bring people together in harmony and peace, this world must become one through music,” says 67-year-old Marlon Jackson. And 70-year-old Tito adds: “The world needs this more than anything else, we all need this.”
Tito’s son Taryll Jackson has only been involved for about two years, but has absorbed music since he was a child and founded the band 3Ts with his two brothers. His motivation: “Our whole family loves music, I want to make people smile and happy.”
The Jacksons make a mixture of soul, pop, funk and rhythm and blues, initially with Jacky, Jermaine, Tito and later also Michael and Marlon. In 1969 they secured a contract with the soul label Motown, initially under the wing of soul diva Diana Ross. Their first single, “I Want You Back”, was a success.
With more than 100 million records sold, they became one of the most successful bands in pop history, while Michael Jackson pursued his solo career and became a global star.
The Jacksons were in Munich more than 50 years ago: on November 4, 1972 at their first concert in Germany, also at the Circus Krone, said one of the organizers.
