KUCHING, OCT 3 – Miri police arrested a local man and seized 50 boxes of suspected untaxed liquor in a Contraband Ops yesterday morning.
Miri District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the man agreed to be arrested by a police team from the Miri Region 5 Marine Police Intelligence Unit on the side of the road around Miri.
“During the raid, a pick-up type vehicle was also seized and the estimated value of the seized goods was RM101,549.50,” he said in a statement in Kuching today.
Alexson said investigation papers had been opened under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 while the suspect’s remand application would be presented in the Magistrate’s Court. – Named
