MLB will produce and stream Guardians games on TV for 2025 season

DERROIT — The Guardians are among three teams that will have their local broadcasts produced and distributed directly through Major League Baseball for the 2025 season, the league announced Tuesday.

The arrangement will provide fans with multiple options to watch games on television or to stream digitally.

Brewers and Twins games will also be produced by the league. Additionally, MLB announced that the Rangers are cutting ties with Diamond Sports Group and are considering other options for local media in 2025.

Guardians games reached 1.45 million homes last season according to a release from MLB. By joining MLB’s direct-to-consumer streaming option, Cleveland’s audience will more than double to approximately 4.86 million households.

“We’re excited to work with Major League Baseball to produce and distribute games locally,” said Guardians spokesperson Curtis Danburg. “This is great for our fans, as beginning in 2025, our games will now be more widely available. This will include streaming for the first time ever in our home television territory, essentially ending blackouts for our fans locally.”

The arrangement will look similar to the way MLB produced and distributed games for the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Padres in 2024 after those franchises were dropped by Diamond Sports Group.
