More people on flights in March – but still not as many as before the pandemic

Economy and business: Because despite the fact that the number of air passengers in Norway is at a stable level in March this year compared to the same time last year, the number is still 11 percent lower than in March 2019, writes Statistics Norway (SSB).

Overall, there were nevertheless 6,000 fewer passengers on board at departure and arrival at Norwegian airports in March this year, compared to March 2023.

However, there are more passengers traveling to and from abroad this year. The number ended at 1.7 million in March 2024, an increase of 12 per cent from the same period the previous year.

There are still fewer on domestic flights, with 2.6 million passengers in March, a decrease of 7 per cent from March 2023.

Compared to before the pandemic, there is a decrease of 6 percent on foreign flights and 13 percent on domestic flights.
