Policy: Among other things, it is proposed to extend the right to carry out the last part of the prison sentence with electronic control from up to six months to up to twelve months. This should contribute to a better transition from prison to freedom and reduce any harmful effects of a stay in prison.
– The legislative proposals will be able to free up capacity in probation to better follow up those who carry out sentences outside prison, says Minister of Justice and Emergency Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp).
In addition, it is proposed to expand the use of digital control measures for various forms of punishment, such as community punishment, furloughs and paroles.
The proposal is sent for consultation with a consultation deadline of 2 September 2024.
