Motorcycle World Championship: MotoGP in Italy: Bastianini wins his home race

Motorcyclist Enea Bastianini has won the MotoGP race at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The Italian prevailed with a tough maneuver on the last lap against his Spanish Ducati brand colleague Jorge Martin, who went into the final lap as the leader.

“The maneuver was too hard because he pushed me off the track,” said Martin about Bastianini. The stewards from the FIM motorcycle world association decided not to impose a penalty. With second place, Martin nevertheless extended his lead in the overall standings, as defending champion Francesco Bagnaia made a mistake and crashed. The podium was completed by former world champion Marc Marquez. Both also ride a Ducati.

Ducati celebrated its 100th Grand Prix victory at its home race in Misano. The Italian manufacturer also secured its early win of the Constructors’ World Championship at its home race on the Adriatic coast.
