The Backstreet Boys were celebrated at the Glücksgefühle Festival at the Hockenheimring. In a good mood, they presented some of their biggest hits right at the start, with “I wanna be with you” and “Get down”. Thousands of fans sang along. According to the organizers, this is the US band’s only appearance in Europe this year. The quintet has written boy band history with many pop hits.
Former national soccer player Lukas Podolski and music manager Markus Krampe are responsible for the festival. “They make good music and put on a great show,” said “Poldi” before the festival about the Backstreet Boys, who have been on stage together for more than 30 years. “We grew up with them.”
The organizers expected around 90,000 festival visitors on Friday. Performances by Shirin David, Die Fantastischen Vier, Tokio Hotel and Jan Delay were also on the program. The festival officially runs until Sunday. The concerts end on Saturday night.
