Turbine Potsdam missed out on winning its first point in the women’s Bundesliga. On the second matchday, coach Marco Gebhardt’s team lost 0:2 (0:0) to Werder Bremen and, after the 0:2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the opening match, is still waiting for a successful experience after being promoted again.
In front of a good 1,200 spectators, Michelle Ulbrich converted a penalty to give the team the lead in the 74th minute, and Larissa Mühlhaus made the decision in the 79th minute.
Turbine was missing a total of eight players, including captain Jennifer Cramergoalkeeper Vanessa Fischer and midfielder Viktoria Schwalm are “real cornerstones” according to Gebhardt. Turbine was constantly under pressure from the favored Bremen team and could only rarely provide relief in the opponent’s half.

Potsdam defended bravely, and goalkeeper Lesley Lergenmüller was confident in her Bundesliga debut. However, the 19-year-old goalkeeper had no chance from the penalty, nor from the direct free kick five minutes later. (dpa)
