Sporting director Marc Wilmots has publicly supported coach Karel Geraerts despite the second division football club FC Schalke 04’s next defeat. “I just want to say one thing: There is no discussion about the coach,” the Belgian said after the 0-2 defeat at Karlsruher SC, according to the Funke Media Group. “Even if many people think differently: We’re continuing to work, I have no doubts.”
Schalke has only four points after five matchdays and is far from the promotion places. “I think it will be very unsettled,” said Geraerts on Sky after the match. The club’s defense was at times miserable. “That’s without comment. It was very poorly defended,” said the coach about the defensive behavior before the first goal conceded by Budu Siwsiwadze (45th + 3 minute).
