There are no dramatic or state words in the name of the Sundukyan Theater. The opera theater is neither popular nor dramatic, but the deputy minister coordinating the culture sphere calls it that way, and according to him, the word “state” is late in those long-winded names.

The names are not correct, deputy minister Lilit Galstyan corrected the deputy minister during the parliamentary discussion. The names are important because the government has a new proposal. not the national academic but the state theatre, not the national opera and ballet but the state theatre, not the national but the state gallery and so on.

“Valuing the state, statehood and state values, we suggest that there be a change in the law and the word national be replaced by the word state,” said Daniel Danielyan, deputy minister of the KGSMS.

“The national is not the enemy of the state, don’t oppose it”

Lilit Galstyan, one of the opposition MPs, does not agree, the project she presented in 2011 became a law, according to which national status is granted to national and state-wide cultural organizations by the decision of the government. Moreover, only one organization representing the given sector receives the status of national. For example, among the puppeteers, only Tumanyan’s theater is national, only Sundukyan’s theater is national, and Hovhannes Chekijyan’s is national among choirs.

“The status is one thing, the organizational legal form is another, now you have presented that confusion here,” said Lilit Galstyan, deputy of the “Armenia” faction.

There are many state SNOCs, the national one is a status given to exceptional ones, Galstyan explains.

The national is not the enemy of the state, do not oppose. According to Lilit Galstyan, replacing the word “state” from the names of national institutions means one thing: the ruling “Civil Agreement” has an aversion to the national.

“The state is the highest value”

“Ms. Galstyan’s statement is probably that we are replacing all national words with state words, and this is a consistent policy. I want to reconfirm that there is such a trend in our country, we change the words “national” to “state” because there is a confusing question with dictionary questions. The state expresses more precisely what we want to express,” said Taguhi Ghazaryan, deputy of the CP.

“Yes, the state is the highest value,” continued Sisak Gabrielyan, chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture, to party member Taguhi Ghazaryan. with the votes of the majority of the commissioners, this amendment entered the agenda of the upcoming session of the National Assembly. if it becomes a law, the national theater, opera, library and choir-orchestra will not be national, but state.

“At least we are not afraid or avoiding the word state, but we are doing everything to have a state, we have a state,” said Gabrielyan.

“They don’t understand what they are doing”

“They don’t understand what they are doing,” wonders the artistic director of the National Puppet Theater. By the way, it hasn’t been a year since this theater got the status of a national one, although it has a 90-year history.

“We don’t understand a thousand and one things either, but when you don’t understand something, you should consult with people who understand it,” said the artistic director of the National Puppet Theater Ruben Babayan.

There are national institutions of culture in many countries of the world, according to Ruben Babayan, it is the brand of the state.

Babayan hopes that there will be a discussion with the authors of the project, but if not, then let them make the National Assembly a state assembly.
