Numerous grass fires in Kansas on Thursday

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Many Kansas counties faced an elevated wildfire threat on Thursday, which resulted in actual fires for some of them.

The large grass fire in Sedgwick County was just one of many around the state.

Cowley County Fire District IV shared pictures of a fire south of Milan in western Sumner County. The Cowley firefighters assisted as part of the Sumner County Wildfire Task Force.

KSN Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman said she also received reports of fires in Chase, Finney, and Douglas counties.
