Nurse remanded to assist in infant death investigation

KOTA BHARU, Sept 11 – A nurse at a quarantine center here was remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation related to the case of neglect that led to the death of a one-month-old baby, yesterday.

The order to remand the woman in her 20s until next Tuesday was issued by Chief Magistrate Imran Hamid to allow investigations to be carried out in accordance with Section 31(1) (a) of the Children’s Act 2001.

Yesterday, Kota Bharu District Police Chief ACP, Mohd Rosdi Daud confirmed that his side received a report regarding the case and arrested the woman involved at 6pm.

He said the results of the investigation found that the incident happened at about 5:30 in the morning after the baby lost consciousness after being given milk by the nurse assigned to take care of him. The victim was then taken to a private hospital before being pronounced dead. – Named
