WELLINGTON, SEPT 11 – The New Zealand (NZ) government announced support to drive the absorption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the country’s business sector today.

The government also launched the GovGPT pilot, part of a ‘digital front door’ vision to make it easier for businesses and the public to interact with government agencies and make it easier to access reliable government information, said Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Judith Collins.

Those potential AI facilities will be open to New Zealand businesses through a range of supports, including access to AI research experts, technical assistance, AI tools and resources, as well as options for funding and grants, Collins said.

The minister said AI is predicted to contribute as much as 76 billion NZ dollars (US$46.69 billion) to New Zealand’s annual GDP by 2038. – Xinhua
