COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football will be without starting safety Lathan Ransom vs. Nebraska on Saturday.
Ransom is listed as out on OSU’s injury report along with tight end Will Kacmarek, cornerback Aaron Scott, wide receiver Reis Stocksdale, running back TC Caffey (season) and left tackle Josh Simmons (season).
Ransom is in his fifth season with the Buckeyes and has started in all six games this year.
Coach Ryan Day said earlier this week Malik Hartford or Jaylen McClain could slot in to replace Ransom.
The Buckeyes could also move Jordan Hancock to safety and have Jermaine Matthews or Lorenzo Styles Jr. move into the starting lineup if needed.
Simmons has started every game for Ohio State at left tackle this season. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during OSU’s loss at Oregon on Oct. 12.
With Simmons sidelined, Zen Michalski is expected to start at left tackle.
Kacmarek also suffered an injury against Oregon. Day did not rule him out for the season, but he said Kacmarek will “be out for a little while.”
Jelani Thurman, Bennett Christian and Gee Scott Jr. have regularly played at tight end alongside Kacmarek this year.
Freshman Max LeBlanc recently lost his black stripe, which adds depth to the room.
