EUGENE, OR — Ohio State heads to Eugene for what might be its biggest regular season game against Oregon.
The midseason matchup features the No. 2 and No. 3 teams for a chance to gain prime position in getting to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship Game in December. It’s also a chance for the Buckeyes to avenge a 35-28 home loss to the Ducks in 2021 by returning the favor in Auzten Stadium.
Both teams come into this game with a 5-0 record including 2-0 in the Big Te

I have questions about Oregon. I can’t say the same about Ohio State entering this matchup.
The Buckeyes have dominated everyone they’ve faced, and the, “They haven’t played anyone” argument feels irrelevant. Ohio State entered 2024 with a loaded roster, and every result so far suggests that’s still the case.
Oregon also has a talented roster, and the Ducks have played a relatively easy schedule. Dan Lanning’s team hasn’t look as convincing as Ryan Day’s in the process. This’ll be a tight game through three quarters, but Ohio State will pull away in the final frame.

This is the moment that 2024 Ohio State announces itself to the college football world.
I look at the matchups and I continually come away with favoring, slightly or significantly, Ohio State. And a big area that I think that manifests itself is on the ground. If the Buckeyes run the ball well, which I think they will, Oregon is going to have a difficult time defending all the weapons offensively for Ohio State.
Oregon is one of the best teams in the country. They’re incredibly talented and have a lot going well out in Eugene. But Saturday won’t be that moment for them, as Ohio State steamrolls to a two-touchdown win.
