OHSAA Division I girls state golf: Magnificat takes team title, Highland junior runner-up

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Magnificat won the team title and Highland junior Elizabeth Coleman was runner-up at the OHSAA Division I girls golf state tournament on Tuesday at NCR Country Club in Kettering.

The Blue Streaks won with a team score of 618. Dublin Jerome was second (634) and New Albany was third (641).

Coleman’s 146 was three shots behind winner Eva Becerril of Sycamore, but it helped Highland finish fourth in the team race (643).

Coleman was 25th last season at the state tournament and had finished fourth at last week’s Northeast district tournament, four strokes behind the winner, Solon junior Serena Wu. On Tuesday, Wu tied for fourth at the state tournament with St. Joseph Academy senior Gianna Reginelli (148).

Magnificat, which was runner-up last season, had four golfers finish in the top 20, led by sophomore Kayla Knaze (7th, 151). She was followed by senior Cammy Reed (T8, 152), freshman Callie Reed (15th, 157), senior Maureen O’Leary (17th, 158) and junior Kristina Chill (T30th, 166).
