SERIBEGAWAN CITY, SEPT 18 – The Hearing Impaired Association (OKP) organized a sign language class at the National OKP Association Office, Anggerek Desa, Berakas, recently.
Present during the sign language class session was Pengiran Haji Norahalim BPHA Rahman as the President of the OKP Association together with AJKT and the bureaus that also facilitated the class. OKP members as well as parents and guardians of the participants were also present.
The organization of the class aims to strengthen friendships between hearing impaired individuals and the general public in addition to strengthening cooperation in the fields of sports, social, economic and community as well as introducing sign language to the public.
In addition, it is also held in conjunction with the celebration of the International Week of the Deaf (IWDP) and International Sign Language Day (IDSL) which falls on the fourth week of September every year around the world.
The National OKP Association does not miss to celebrate it every year, with this year’s celebration theme Sign Up For Sign Language Rights.
