PARIS, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Karen Giloyan summarized the work done by the athletes representing Armenia at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

“The Olympic Games are the most difficult sports events, which become a serious test for the organizers. This was my 9th Olympic Games and Paris 2024 is among the top three games I have seen. Paris, as a city full of love, was able to welcome its guests with love.” “Armenpress”According to the correspondent of the newspaper, Giloyan said in a conversation with journalists.

Giloyan emphasized that it should be taken into account that Armenia participated with 15 athletes, 3 of them with a “white card”. According to him, the numbers are very telling from that point of view.

“I will rate the results of the athletes as satisfactory. I don’t consider it a failure, nor do I consider it fantastic. The strategy adopted by the government cannot produce results so quickly. Today’s investment in sports does not translate into a medal tomorrow. At the Los Angeles Olympics, I will give a clear answer: are we doing it right or not? I know, now many people will start criticizing, but a little patience is needed. But let me quote some statistical figures. From 1996 to 2024, only the 1996 and 2016 Olympics, when we had champions, were better in quality. After these two games, Paris-2024 is the best for us in terms of quality: three silver, one bronze,” he said.

According to Giloyan, in the next one month there will be general summaries in all sports, analyzes will be made and future actions will be specified.

At the 33rd Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France, Armenia represented 15 athletes and won 4 medals. Gymnast Artur Davtyan, wrestler Artur Aleksanyan, weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan became silver medal winners of the Summer Olympic Games. Wrestler Malkhas Amoyan won a bronze medal.
