Penaga School, SMSA language learning collaboration

By : Daniel Lim

BELAIT, 13 OCT – Panaga School students and Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) students worked together in a collaborative program titled ‘Language Leaders’ to develop language and public speaking skills, yesterday.

A group of 19 Panaga School students led by program leaders Stephanie Straatman and Marie McCready, were welcomed by SMSA Academic Deputy Principal, Fadhlul Ha’adi bin Haji Dollah.

In the program, Panaga School students were divided into four groups to meet with 98 students from SMSA in four Year 7 classes to share their knowledge and views on English through interactive and interesting activities.

The program aims to develop students’ public speaking skills, deepen students’ understanding of pedagogy and promote cultural exchange between the two schools and will continue with a return visit from students from SMSA to Panaga School next month.

Previously, the same program was held last year where students from Panaga School taught French to SMSA students, while students from SMSA taught Malay to Panaga School students.

Both schools hope that the program will inspire students to learn more about the power of teaching and learning while making friends from a wide and diverse cultural background.
