Noel Gallagher (57) from the band Oasis is coming to the museum. The National Portrait Gallery is adding a new picture of him to its collection. The black and white photo will remain permanently in the museum in central London after an exhibition that begins in November, as the British news agency PA reported.

The news agency quoted Gallagher as saying that he was thrilled and honored that his portrait would be added to the collection, and described himself as a “grumpy middle-aged man”:

“The thought that the portrait of a grumpy, middle-aged man who obviously hates being photographed will be displayed for future generations to admire is very special. Thank you and praise.”

Together with his brother Liam Gallagher (51), he recently announced a comeback of Oasis. The Britpop band (“Wonderwall”, “Supersonic”) split up in 2009. The two brothers had been at loggerheads with each other for years. Concerts in Great Britain and Ireland have now been announced for next year.
