PPP is important to drive ASEAN’s digital economy

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 OCT – Public-private partnerships (PPPs) play an important role in shaping the future of ASEAN, especially to drive the digital economy forward because the sector is the backbone of progress, said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). , Anuar Fariz Fadzil.

He said through collaboration, the government and the private sector can accelerate the use of transformative technology, creating an environment where innovation thrives while businesses can grow rapidly.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to be a catalyst for change for Malaysia and the ASEAN region, he said in a statement in conjunction with Malaysia as ASEAN Chairman 2025.

Recently, Malaysia’s Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo voiced his confidence that Malaysia’s digital economy is on track to surpass the projected contribution of 25.5 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the end of 2025.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also announced that the government will establish a National Office of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to coordinate initiatives, including completing a five-year technology action plan and regulatory framework within the next 12 months to increase the ethical and sustainable use of AI .

Anuar Fariz said AI will play an important role in reshaping the industry, improving operational efficiency and driving productivity.
