BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 18 OCT – The Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association (PPPBD) in collaboration with the Young Leaders Unit of the Seri Begawan Religious Teaching University College (KUPU SB), today held a Prize Presentation Ceremony for the National Holy Quran Reading Competition that took place at the college concerned.
Present as the guest of honor and then present the prize to the winner of the competition, the wife of the Honorable Minister of Religious Affairs, Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Hasbi.
Five categories were contested, namely the Tunas Girl Guide Category, the Girl Guide and Ranger Girl Guide Category, the Young Leader Category, the Adult Leader Category and the Council Member and Commissioner Category.
The champion for the Budding Girl Guide Category was won by Dayangku Latheefah binti Pengiran Haji Muhamad Lizam, the Girl Guide and Ranger Girl Guide category was won by Dayang Nur Bazilah Syahdina @Nur Ramadhani binti Haji Mohamad Aslenan and the winner of the Young Leader Category, Dayang Nur Irdina binti Sarudin .
While the competition for the Adult Leader Category, Dayang Lina Musfirah binti Haji Abdul Wahab and Dayang Hamizah binti Haji Tahamit were announced as the competition for the Council Member and Commissioner Category.
The competition was held in conjunction with the 2024 PPPBD Girls’ Guide Day Celebration aimed at fostering a culture of reading, understanding and deepening the Al-Quran among association members and educating members from a spiritual aspect.
In addition to strengthening friendships and fostering goodwill among association members.
The National PPPDB Al-Quran Reading Competition for the year 1446H/2024M was attended by 21 participants consisting of association members from all levels from the Districts of Brunei and Muara, Tutong and Belait.
The council also heard the comments of the competition judge, PPPBD Spiritual Commissioner, Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Abdul Ghani.
Prior to the prize giving ceremony to the competition winners, the ceremony was graced with the recitation of the holy verses of the Quran from the contestants for each category.
In addition to skill development, social and cultural activities, the association is also active in promoting spiritual and religious activities that involve the participation of members from all levels.
This is in line with the association’s mission to enable members to develop their full potential. Also present at the ceremony were the Assistant Raes for Academic Affairs, KUPU SB, Datin Paduka Hajah Zaharah binti Haji Idris as Vice President for Life of PPPBD and Chief Commissioner of PPPBD, Dayang Norazrina binti Haji Sarbini.
