Qualcomm launches the first mobile platform with the world’s fastest CPU

MAUI, OCT 22 – Leading United States (US) chip manufacturer Qualcomm yesterday launched its first Snapdragon Mobile Platform featuring the world’s fastest mobile CPU.

The platform, called Snapdragon 8 Elite, was launched at Qualcomm’s annual technology summit in Maui, Hawaii, USA.

The platform powers a new era of generative artificial intelligence (AI) on devices, built to seamlessly handle the complexities of multi-modal AI while prioritizing privacy.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite featuring next-generation Oryon CPUs is the world’s most powerful and fastest mobile system, according to Qualcomm.

The platform delivers better performance and power efficiency across the board and transforms the on-device experience with multimodal generative AI support, redefined AI photography, gaming and studio-quality audio all underpinned by AI-enhanced connectivity.

Earlier this year, Qualcomm introduced Oryon CPUs in personal computers (PCs).

“We are thrilled to bring the power of Qualcomm Oryon to our Snapdragon mobile platform for the first time,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

“It’s a huge leap and we expect users to be excited about the new experience powered by our CPU technology,” he said.

The first Qualcomm Oryon CPU in a mobile platform delivers a 45 percent performance boost, 44 percent greater power efficiency and the mobile industry’s largest shared data cache, according to Qualcomm.

The technology summit called the Snapdragon Summit took place yesterday until tomorrow, where the company unveiled its next-generation platform and showcased innovative technologies that will power consumer devices and even cars. – Xinhua
