Regina Schmeken receives the Hilde Dohm certificate

The Association of Women Journalists has awarded its 2024 media prizes. The Hilde Dohm certificate for her life’s work went to photojournalist and freelance artist Regina Schmeken, who has shaped the visual appearance of the Süddeutsche Zeitung for over thirty years. “As a political photographer, she has always accompanied events with commentary,” said Tagesspiegel art editor Nicola Kuhn in her laudation. “Her pictures set their own accents and broaden the perspective.”

Sasa Uhlová received the Courage Prize for current, gender-sensitive reporting for her documentary film “The Invisibles. Workers from Eastern Europe”. Paula Lochte received the Marlies Hesse Young Talent Award for her three-part podcast “Paula seeks Paula” about the courageous journalist Paula Schlier, who warned about the National Socialists early on with her contributions.
