Resident loses ,000 in gift card scam: Bay Village Police Blotter

On Oct. 7 an officer found a car with the listed owner showing a felony warrant out of Richland County. The officer stopped the driver near Huntington Beach and took the registered owner into custody. The woman was held for an extradition hearing and later turned over to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

Violation, Knickerbocker Road

On Oct. 8 an officer watched a truck exit a closed business near Dover Center Road. The truck had no visible license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop over the Westlake border. The driver explained she was given permission to scrap from the business and was given a verbal warning for the equipment violation. In addition, a passenger had a warrant through the North Olmsted Police Department. He was transported and turned over to North Olmsted.

Trespassing, Cliff Drive

On Oct. 8 a resident contacted the police department over a civil matter. The resident was unhappy their neighbor hired a surveying company which trespassed on their property. Officers responded and stood by to keep the peace so the surveyor could complete their job.

Fraud,  Knickerbocker Road

On Oct. 8 a Knickerbocker Apartments resident reported a fraud. The resident fell victim to a scam and sent $22,000 via gift cards. Officers responded and are investigating.
