Hoping to get my friends and neighbors to put Harris/Walz yard signs on their lawns, I’ve run into some resistance. The stated reason: although they are personally all in, they don’t want to risk showing their hand for fear that their business associates, non-profit board members, and/or various important and monied individuals might take offense, thereby straining a certain non-partisan congeniality assumed to be necessary for moving forward with the business at hand.
Many of these people had fathers or grandfathers who bloody well knew how to fight — and how to defeat — fascism in Europe. What in God’s name is happening when we are witnessing this reluctance to stand up, show your hand, and fight fascism in this, the United States of America? The United States of America! The greatest constitutional (liberal and conservative) democracy in the world!
Please, show your hand, let everyone know that you have no fear, only hope, and that you are working to stop this horrific rise of one of the great scourges of history. VOTE for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
