RMAF denied the loud bang was caused by a sonic boom

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 OCT – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) today denied that the noise and tremors that occurred around Ipoh, Perak yesterday morning were caused by the sonic boom of military fighter planes.

The RMAF Public Relations Division, through a statement today, informed that there was no flight of RMAF fighter jets or foreign aircraft that allegedly invaded the country’s airspace around the area and at the time of the incident.

“The RMAF asks all parties not to make any speculations and leave it entirely to the Royal Malaysian Police to carry out the investigation and identify the real cause of the incident,” according to the statement.

Yesterday, Perak Police Chief, Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said his side received information about the incident at 11.06am and a check with the North Brigade of the General Operations Team (PGA), Ulu Kinta found that there was no training related to explosions on the day in question.

Meanwhile, a check with the Lands and Mines Office (PTG) also found that no blasting was carried out in any quarry before 12 noon yesterday. – Named
