Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has paid tribute to former national soccer player Günter Netzer on his 80th birthday. Netzer is celebrating his special day today. “He always captivated people, whether as a player, manager, entrepreneur or TV expert. I am grateful to have found a good friend in him,” said the former CEO of FC Bayern Munich.

Netzer was, alongside Franz Beckenbauer, “the first pop star of German football.” “As an intelligent playmaker and charismatic personality, he brought casual elegance to the league and the entire sport.”
