From September 1, Russia stopped the transfer of social payments to the employees, teachers and doctors of the power structures of Abkhazia. This was announced today by the Foreign Minister of the self-proclaimed republic, Sergey Shamba, noting that it is a consequence of Abkhazia’s failure to fulfill its obligations to Russia.

According to Shamba, “serious dissatisfaction has accumulated among the allies, and relations between Russia and Abkhazia have changed significantly recently.”

Earlier, Russia and Abkhazia reached a number of agreements, in particular, on mutual recognition of court and arbitration decisions and creating favorable conditions for Russian investors in Abkhazia. However, the Abkhazian side has not ratified these agreements.
