LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Tyrese Buchanan does not think he carried the football as much as he did Saturday against Cincinnati Elder.

He took it 31 times and ran for 161 yards with two touchdowns at First Federal Lakewood Stadium, giving the Eagles a 24-17 victory.

St. Edward (3-1), ranked No. 1 in the cleveland.com Top 25, sought production from its backfield after losing junior standout Brandon White to a knee injury the previous week during a 38-21 loss to Kentucky power Boyle County.

Buchanan helped the Eagles rush for 222 yards, as quarterback Thomas Csanyi pulled the ball down for 11 carries and 38 yards. They also tried reverses and sweeps with receivers Zach Hackelman and Joseph Saffold.

St. Edward finished with 309 yards as a team, while its defense held Elder (3-1) to 107 yards in total offense. The Eagles sacked quarterback Kaden Estep four times, one each by Jaden Woods, Ray Jenne, Nate Gregory and Collin Crocker.

See how they did it in the video above and hear from Buchanan, coach Tom Lombardo, Woods, Jenne and senior safety Aydin Buchanan.
