It’s despicable but not surprising that Donald Trump would use Americans’ devastation as a campaign strategy. Contrary to Trump’s claims, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is offering $750 each to disaster survivors for immediate use now! In the long term, FEMA will also provide tens of thousands more for home repair and hotel costs.
Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, said Oct. 7 that “everything we’ve asked for from President [Joe] Biden, he has approved, and we do think we’ll get more approvals for some of the individual assistance and the debris removal after landfall” by Hurricane Milton. Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said, ”I’m actually impressed with how much attention was paid to a region that wasn’t likely to have experienced the impact that they did.”
It’s shameful that at a time when all Americans normally unite to help our fellow Americans, that Trump and Sen. JD Vance would use Americans’ tragedy to lie for political gain.
