Stefan Raab loses boxing match against Regina Halmich – and announces new shows

Moderator and entertainer Stefan Raab has announced a comeback on television after a break of almost nine years. “I thought about I’m doing shows again“, said the 57-year-old Raab Saturday evening in Düsseldorf after a boxing exhibition match against Regina Halmich on the television channel RTL. After a big countdown, the more than 13,000 spectators in Düsseldorf were surprised first by the spotlight not on Raab, but on the Comedian Helge Schneider who performed his hit “Katzeklo”.

After a second countdown, a show staircase emerged from the high ceiling of the hall, which seemed to lead down from the sky. Fitness influencer Pamela Reif as an angel on ropes above the audience and sang the anthem: “Stefan Raab is back.”

White suit and white cape

Raab then slowly and leisurely descended the endless staircase in a white suit and white cape to the sound of pathetic music and seemed to have the light in the room under god-like control.

He entered the stage to the sound of fireworks and glitter and sang along Sido, Ski Aggu and background singers his new boxing song “Punch in the mouth”.

Raab appeared to be in very good physical shape, with muscles, a white stubble and short white hair. He posed in boxer shorts with the inscription “The Killerplautze”.

It was the third encounter between entertainer Raab (57) and former boxing world champion Regina Halmich (47) in the ring. Fists flew in 2001 and 2007. Both times the Cologne native lost to the Karlsruhe native.
