Stopping trade with Israel multiplies Türkiye’s exports to the Palestinians 6 times

Exports increased sharply after the entry into force of the trade ban Israel came into effect and rose 526 percent.

Data from the Turkish Exporters Council revealed that Turkish exports to the Palestinian territories jumped 35 percent to $49.4 million in the first four months of 2024.

Yeniroglu asked the Minister of Trade, Omar Polatresponding to local media reports stating that trade with Israel continues in secret through Palestinian companies, and that goods are recorded in shipping documents as destined for the Palestinian territories, when in fact they are destined for Israel.

On September 18, the Ministry of Commerce denied that trade with Israel was continuing and confirmed that it had stopped on May 2.

She said that the Palestinian authorities announced several times that Turkish goods are limited to use in the Palestinian territories, which includes the Gaza Strip Gaza andWest Bank andEast Jerusalem.

The Ministry imposed restrictions on the export of 54 products to Israel in April, before stopping imports and exports completely in early May.

Turkey currently says that it will not resume trade with Israel, which is worth seven billion dollars annually, until a permanent ceasefire is reached in Gaza and humanitarian aid is brought into the Strip, becoming the first major trading partner of Israel to take such a step.
