Storm Track 3 Forecast: Early Thursday shower, switch to fall this weekend

Eyes are on Florida right now.  Hurricane Milton is gearing up to make landfall this evening near and just south of Tampa. It will remain a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) through landfall. Storm surge over 10 feet and a slew of tornadoes have been affecting Florida today and will continue through tonight.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Early Thursday shower, switch to fall this weekend

Back here in Kansas, we stand a chance of a random shower or rumble in western Kansas this evening.

This weak and fast-moving piece of energy will create a batch of scattered showers Thursday morning over Southcentral and Southeast Kansas.

Hit or miss rain will exit rather quickly.  Temps Thursday morning will range from the 40s through the 50s.

Highs on Thursday will be warm in the 80s with a few 90s to the southwest. Remnant morning cloud cover will cost a few degrees but will overall be a warmer than average day.

Temps keep climbing ahead of the next cold front.  It will be warm and dry for Friday Football Fever this week.  But, a pattern change is coming shortly.  The next cold front enters the northwest late this week and sags south on Saturday.

Areas ahead of the boundary will be warmer than those behind it.  Cannot rule out an early morning sprinkle or shower to the northeast on Saturday.  However, this frontal passage looks to have virtually no moisture to produce anything meaningful nor helpful for us.

Sunday will be much cooler with another reinforcing shot of cooler air to kickoff the new workweek.  A few showers will pop over Southwest Kansas Monday into Tuesday.  Otherwise, overnight temps from Monday morning through Wednesday morning will become cold enough for some frost especially across northern Kansas.  Highs next week will be in the 60s and 70s. Lows favor the 30s and 40s.  Another cold front tracks through the following weekend.  This might have a better chance for rain with it.
