Storm Track 3 Forecast: Pleasant fall weather, turning unsettled next week

Winds are still slightly breezy and will generally drop once high pressure settles farther southeast by this evening.  This weather feature allows temps to cool for a couple of days and will offer up great weather for final day of the 92nd Annual Arkalalah in Arkansas City.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Pleasant fall weather, turning unsettled next week

Overnight, it will get cold enough for frost farther north across Kansas.

Freeze and Frost alerts are posted to the northwest through early Saturday morning.

Afternoon highs under a sunshiny sky will stay mostly in the 60s through Saturday.

With this area of high pressure leaving to the east, the wind flow will switch out of the south around the backside on Sunday.  The breeze will also kick up and promote a warmer day above average.  Winds will strengthen next Monday through Wednesday as a storm system organizes over the Plains.

High fire danger is likely especially Monday and Tuesday.  Winds during this time will gust from 35-45 MPH.  Winds will be the strongest on Tuesday where gusts could exceed 50 MPH!

An uptick in atmospheric moisture could help offset the fire risk.  A few showers are possible on Tuesday to the northwest.  This system gels with the approaching cold front on Wednesday for a shot of showers and storms focused primarily over central and eastern Kansas.

Rain clears for Halloween with a return to sunshine.  Temperatures will be cooler and more seasonable behind the front to end next week.  Trick-or-treating temps will be comfortably cool in the 50s with northern Kansas falling to the upper 40s by late evening.

Another surge of moisture will track into Kansas next Friday, offering up a more widespread chance for rain.  This is also the start of a chillier, more fall-like stretch into the first week of November.  The pattern also looks to promote more opportunities for moisture, not drought-busting, but enough to settle the dust.
