CLEVELAND, Ohio – An Akron man faces charges after police say he broke into a car dealership and stole key fobs.

At about 2 a.m. Monday, Christian Caldwell, 19, smashed the glass door of VanDevere Kia on West Market Street, stole key fobs, broke car windows and drove around the parking lot with a stolen vehicle, Akron police said in a statement.

After someone called 911, officers arrived and found two car windows had been smashed, several cars were running, and Caldwell was in the parking lot with key fobs tampering with vehicles, according to the statement.

Caldwell admitted to taking the key fobs from the dealership to steal the cars, police said.

Caldwell was charged with breaking and entering, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief and three counts of damaging or endangering, court records show. He was taken to Summit County Jail.
