Taylor Swift is now back in the city of Gelsenkirchen in western Germany, not for a concert, but in the form of a mural on the wall of a building, reports the German news agency (dpa).
The famous pop star from the United States was immortalized through a giant graffiti mural, following three spectacular concerts held in the city last July.
Local artist Beni Veltum, together with his friend Levin Tomala, created the mural to depict the excitement that gripped Gelsenkirchen during the concert series Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at the beginning of this year.
The city, previously known as a gloomy industrial area in Germany, experienced a surge of enthusiasm and excitement when Swift held her concert here.
“I was inspired by the euphoria that hit the city in the final moments,” Veltum told dpaadding that he wanted to portray the ‘positive energy’ felt in the city through his artwork.
The portrait of the 34-year-old singer is about 10 meters high and five meters wide.
“I left all other work behind and followed my intuition,” explained Veltum, who completed the mural last week after 10 days of painting and drying.
In July, Gelsenkirchen was temporarily known as Swiftkirchen when fans flooded the city, exchanging colorful wristbands and singing his hits before the concert.
The city even put up a sign that said Swiftkirchen for a while and honor Swift by adding her name to the rock Walk of Fame Gelsenkirchen. – Named
