BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 15 OCT – A total of 30 participants in the Strengthening of Religious Teacher Pedagogy: Improving Teacher Teaching Competence and Student Learning Quality program, today received their respective certificates in the certificate presentation ceremony which took place in the Mind Talk Room, Library Main Building, University Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
Present to present certificates to program participants was the Acting Assistant Director of the Educator Management Department, Ministry of Education, Dr Roslena binti Pehin Datu Indera Sugara Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Johari.
Among other things, the purpose of the program is to support the integration of religious subjects into the general education system which has started to be implemented on 1 November 2023.
While one of the objectives of the program is to provide specific training to religious teachers to improve the competence and quality of pedagogical teaching according to student-centered criteria (Methodology and Evaluation) in the 21st Century National Education System (SPN21) for Islamic Education subjects.
Earlier, before the presentation of certificates to program participants, the ceremony began with the presentation of implementation reports from program participants, which consisted of religious teachers who teach Islamic Education subjects in government and private primary schools under the Ministry of Education.
The implementation of the program is to apply various teaching aids (ABM) including the use of the latest applications as well as developing the participants’ competence to coordinate and handle training and guidance to other religious teachers in their respective schools and clusters.
The program is implemented through three main phases, where the first phase involves the delivery of program software for 15 days, starting from July 4 to August 1.
While the second phase focuses on implementing the software in schools for six weeks, from August 26 to October 5.
While the third phase has involved the presentation of the implementation report which was held yesterday and today.
The main facilitators for the program consist of the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE), UBD, namely Assistant Professor as program coordinator, Pengiran Dr Norhazlin binti Pengiran Haji Muhammad; Assistant Professor, Dr Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Madin and tutor, Hajah Zuriyatini Haji Zainal.
Also participating in the program as an invited facilitator, Pengiran Hajah Mashayu binti Pengiran Haji Yusof from the Office of the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Corporate), Ministry of Education.
The program is organized by the Teaching Staff Unit, Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy (BDLTA), Educator Management Department, Ministry of Education in collaboration with SHBIE, UBD and Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
