A fire alarm at the US Open briefly interrupted all tennis matches at the Grand Slam tournament in New York. The building, which also houses the electronic line monitoring system, was evacuated, the organizers said in response to a dpa query. Since it was only an alarm, play resumed in the afternoon after around six minutes.

The electronic system automatically detects whether a ball is out of bounds or in the field. The referee at the match between Russian ex-champion Daniil Medvedev and Nuno Borges from Portugal said over the microphone that the match had to be temporarily stopped due to technical problems. The two players sat on the benches in Arthur Ashe Stadium for the break, while professionals on other pitches passed the time by stretching.
