BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 26 – In conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei held a reception at the Rizqun Gadong International Hotel, yesterday.
Present to represent the government of Brunei Darussalam was the Minister of Home Affairs, the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
The reception welcomed the arrival of the Honorable Dato Haji Ahmaddin with a dragon dance performance before continuing with the singing of the national anthems of both countries followed by a welcome speech from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Xiao Jiangou.
In his speech, TYT Xiao Jiangou said this year marks the 40th anniversary of Brunei-China relations where both sides have enjoyed close political ties, productive exchanges and cooperation in various fields, as well as close coordination in regional and international affairs. international, which not only benefits both countries, but also contributes to peace, development, and regional stability.
With the coordination of the Brunei Vision 2035 Initiative, bilateral trade has reached US$1.53 billion in the first half of this year, marking a 27.6 percent increase over the previous year.
The second phase of the Hengyi petrochemical project is progressing well, the Muara port container terminal expansion project has been successfully launched, the hybrid rice planting experiment has yielded abundant results, the protocol on Brunei’s aquatic products to China has been signed and is now being implemented with more than 300 tons of lobster and tuna was exported to China.
Next, collaboration Belt and Road has brought more benefits to both countries and brought prosperity to the people. Earlier, the 21st China-ASEAN Expo was successfully launched in Guangxi, China, where the participation of ASEAN countries including Brunei in the annual event showed a high level of cooperation between China-Brunei and China-ASEAN.
TYT Xiao Jiangou also emphasized the close friendship between the two that has been established since time immemorial, added to the wisdom of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the official visit of the President of China, Xi Jinping to the country in past.
The ceremony continued with the cake cutting ceremony of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China which was performed by the Honorable Dato Haji Ahmaddin and TYT Xiao Jiangou.
In addition, the ceremony was also graced with several Chinese cultural performances, as well as wushu martial arts that amazed the guests and invited guests.
