The armed forces of Ukraine stopped the advance of the Russian army in the direction of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, CNN reported said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Alexander Sirsky.

“During the last six days, the enemy has not advanced a single meter in the direction of Pokrovsk,” Sirsky said about the progress of the confrontation between the Ukrainian and Russian armies in the Kursk region.

At the end of August, the American Institute for the Study of War announced that the Russian troops achieved significant tactical success in this direction in the Donetsk region. On September 1, the British Ministry of Defense reported that Russian ground forces “are highly likely to be within 10 km of the strategic Pokrovsk”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently announced that the main goal of the Ukrainian armed forces is to create a “buffer zone” in the border region of the Russian Federation. Zelensky had saidthat Kiev plans to keep Russian territory indefinitely.
