The tenth episode of the “Sarah Kohr” series begins like a dark thriller. After a long day, senior public prosecutor Anton Mehringer (Herbert Knaup) gets out of his car and walks down a dark staircase. Suddenly he is brutally attacked by a masked attacker. A policewoman who happens to be passing by intervenes and saves his life – but his injuries are serious. Mehringer falls into a coma and it remains uncertain whether he will ever wake up again. The exciting action thriller called “Coma” can be seen on Monday on ZDF (September 9, 8:15 p.m.).
Three weeks after the attack, the senior public prosecutor is transferred to a special clinic. This is run by Prof. Dr. Gabriele Keuber (Johanna Gastdorf). She explains to the relatives that the chances of Mehringer waking up from his coma are slim. Inspector Sarah Kohr (Lisa Maria Potthoff) leaves no stone unturned to find the man who beat her boss into a coma.
Footage from a surveillance camera shows the brutality of the attack on the prosecutor. But how is this attack connected to the special clinic for patients in a vegetative state?
A web of lies, entanglements and secrecy
Initial investigations lead Sarah Kohr to the photographer Ruth Vollborn, whose car was also captured by the surveillance camera. But when Kohr tracks down Ruth, she is threatened by an armed man. Kohr fights the attacker and Ruth manages to escape – but she is shot shortly afterwards by the man who also attacked Mehringer. Sarah herself is seriously injured in the fight, but she does not give up.
Everything is connected to the vegetative state clinic like a spider’s web. Inspector Kohr uncovers the dark machinations of the clinic director, who is conducting secret experiments behind the facade of the flagship clinic. These are intended to bring about a scientific breakthrough in coma research – the goal is to bring people out of a vegetative state. But there is a catch: the experiments usually end in death. The question arises whether the public prosecutor will ever wake up from his coma.
Sarah Kohr’s character is characterized by coolness, determination and the use of physical violence. “Coma” contains several fight scenes that are reminiscent of a Tarantino film. Overall, the episode is a fast-paced film with many different storylines that ultimately converge.
The film was directed by Mike Marzuk, known for his ability to successfully handle different genres while always delivering high quality and emotional storytelling. He continues to captivate viewers with the tenth part of the crime series “Sarah Kohr”.
