He said: “The transportation and roads sector has been neglected for years, and it was not a luxury to spend 2 trillion pounds on this sector.”
He continued: “This large expenditure was necessary for essential projects despite the rise in prices and the decline in the value of the pound.”
The Egyptian President indicated that Egypt was working to serve an “increasing population,” explaining that the government was aware that the country might “suffer because of this spending.”
Al-Sisi called on industrialists and investors to manufacture goods and products that are imported in dollars locally, pointing out that there are job opportunities for investors to manufacture many of the goods that Egypt imports from abroad.
