The embassy reception ceremony strengthens the relationship between Brunei and Korea

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 23 OCT – The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brunei Darussalam held a Reception National Foundation of Korea which took place at Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong yesterday.

Present representing the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Security and Law), Dato Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu.

The ceremony started with the singing of the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea and continued with a speech by the Charge D’Affaires of the Republic of Korea, Park Sun Young who said that the two countries have a strong relationship of friendship and bilateral cooperation that continues to grow from year to year.

Sun Young also touched on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries where the Korean embassy has organized various cultural events that promote mutual understanding and appreciation.

Park Sun Young delivered a speech.

The first event was the Logo Design Contest which attracted more than 150 entries from both countries whose winning design is now a symbol of their 40-year journey together.

He added that the Korean Embassy also held a Joint Art Exhibition at the Energy Hub Gallery featuring 47 artists and an impressive collection of 70 artworks from both countries.

The Korean Embassy also held a quiz about Korea in the preliminary stage which was won by a UBD student and then he participated in the final stage in Korea to represent the country.

He also noted that the recent K-Dream Night event organized by the Korean Culture Club has seen almost double the attendance compared to previous years and the annual Korean Festival has attracted nearly 10,000 visitors.

The ceremony was then enlivened with a cake cutting session which was completed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea and also the guest of honor.
