TUTONG, 6 SEPT – About 200 Year 7 and 8 students of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School (SM RIPAS), Kampung Birau, Tutong District, have participated in the Get to Know ASEAN Tour program held at the school, recently.
The program organized by the Department of Information, Prime Minister’s Department, through the International Affairs Desk, Corporate Relations Unit, Media and Corporate Communications Division, as the Secretariat for the ASEAN-COCI Information Sub-Committee (SCI) aims to expand exposure and basic knowledge about ASEAN to school students secondary in this country.
Present at the program was the Principal of SM RIPAS, Hajah Adimah binti Haji Said, as well as the teaching staff.
The program was also filled with an Get to Know ASEAN Briefing session delivered by the Head of the International Affairs Desk, Corporate Relations Unit, Media and Corporate Communications Division, Awang Eddy Iswandy bin Haji Ismail.
The briefing aims to instill awareness about the role of students as part of the ASEAN community, in line with the ASEAN motto: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
Through the program, the students also had the opportunity to participate in the Get to Know ASEAN Quiz to test their understanding.
In addition, the program is intended to instill a spirit of patriotism and unity (ASEAN-ness) among students to understand the function and purpose of the establishment of ASEAN, in addition to helping to strengthen the relationship between the Department of Information and the community, especially the students who will be the heirs of the next generation.
