The government approved activities of demarcation commissions to the regulation.

At today’s session, the executive committee approved the decision to approve the draft law “On validating the regulation on the joint activities of the Commission for the Demarcation of the State Border and Border Security between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the State Commission for the Demarcation of the State Border between Azerbaijan and Armenia”.

This was among the unreported issues.

“In case of receiving the positive decision of the Constitutional Court, the issue will go to the National Assembly for ratification, and perhaps a more detailed discussion will take place there. Before sending it to the Constitutional Court, we did not consider it appropriate to hold an extended discussion on this issue in the government session, which I think is the right approach in this case, more detailed political and substantive discussions will take place in the National Assembly in the case of a positive position of the CC, and in the case of a negative position, it will be complete. it’s a different story,” Prime Minister Pashinyan announced at the end of the session.

After today’s positive decision of the government, the executive will apply to the Constitutional Courtto determine the compliance of the obligations stipulated in the regulation with the Mother Law. During those discussions, the representative of the government will be Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Armenian Commission for Demarcation Mher Grigoryan. In case of a positive decision of the Constitutional Court, the government will send this regulation as a legislative project to the National Assembly for ratification.

The regulation was signed on August 30, two months behind schedule, and published two days later. At the time, the executive explained that the delay was related to the need to synchronize the processes in the two countries as much as possible.

While Armenia actually started the procedure of interstate ratification of the regulation, Azerbaijan has not published the document until now, they only confirmed that such a document exists.

Azatut’s efforts to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out why the regulations are not published are still in vain.

It is after the approval of this document that it should be agreed in which areas the demarcation will continue.
