The Indonesian Navy foiled a drug smuggling attempt

JAKARTA, SEPT 20 – The Indonesian Navy in collaboration with several law enforcement agencies has foiled an attempt to smuggle cocaine and syabu into Indonesia through the country’s overseas waters this month, news agencies reported. BETWEEN.

In a press conference yesterday, the Commander of the Navy Fleet, Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata informed that several kilograms of cocaine and syabu were seized in Berhala Island, North Sumatra and the waters of Sebatik Island, North Kalimantan.

“We found 84.75 kilograms of cocaine in 74 packages. Each package contains between 1.05 to 1.5 kilograms of drugs,” he said.

At the same event, Navy Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Yoos Suryono Hadi said the method used to smuggle the cocaine was similar to the narcotics delivery system on land.

To move drugs by sea, drug donkeys carry cocaine through sea lanes and drop packages into the waters. They then provide the coordinates of the package involved to the recipient.

An attempt like this was foiled in the waters near the Malacca Strait by the Indonesian Navy patrol vessel, KAL Pandang I-1-72 on September 16.

Meanwhile, in the waters around Sebatik Island, the Indonesian Navy managed to capture a drug mule and seize a package of shabu that was to be transferred by sea.
