The nurse pleaded not guilty to causing the death of the child

KOTA BHARU, SEPT 17 – A nurse pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court in Kelantan, today, to the charge of neglect leading to the death of a one-month-old male child, last week.

Nur Ain Natasha Mohd Sabri, 22, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin.

Based on the charges, Nur Ain Natasha, as an individual who has custody of the baby boy, allegedly exposed the victim to a situation that may cause injury between 4:47 am and 5:30 am, on September 9 at a quarantine center here.

The woman was charged under Section 31(1) (a) of the Children Act 2001 and can be punished under Section 31(1) of the same act which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to 20 years or both, if convicted fault.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Siti Edabayu Subhan asked the court not to grant bail to the nurse because it was a serious offence, but Nur Alini Ahamad Kamil’s lawyer asked the court to allow her client to be released on bail on the grounds that he is still young, has no criminal record and can cooperate in the investigation the case.

The court allowed the accused to be bailed at RM10,000 with one surety in addition to having to report to the nearest police station every month and fixed October 3 for the case to be mentioned again. – Named
