The implementation of the project, he added, will support Brunei’s transition to a cleaner energy structure and reduce carbon emissions. The SINAR project is not only a major initiative for the company in the field of renewable energy but also a major contributor to the development of sustainable energy in Brunei.

The ceremony continued with the launch of the SINAR Project accompanied by a video showing a detailed overview of the project and its goals.

In conjunction with the launch, Hengyi Industries distributed the Report Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) 2023 to the invitees where the report highlights the company’s key achievements in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and corporate governance throughout the year.

The SINAR project underlines Hengyi Industries’ commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility where in the first stage, also known as a pilot project, Hengyi Industries will install PV solar panels on building roofs, car shed roofs and open spaces in PMB covering a total area of 36 hectares.

Preliminary analysis has shown that PMB is well-suited to harness solar power due to the large amount of annual solar radiation it receives, earning it a Grade A rating for Solar Energy Resources Wealth. With those favorable conditions, Stage 1 is estimated to generate up to 48 peal megawatts (MWp) when ready later.

As part of Hengyi Industries’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to adopt and invest in renewable energy, the SINAR Project is in line with Brunei Darussalam’s strategic goal of increasing renewable energy in the power mix.
